The Church's Witness to Jesus (Revelation 11:1-14)

Revelation 11 places us in one of the most challenging and layered passages in Scripture, yet at its heart is a clear call to faithful witness. The two witnesses proclaim God’s truth boldly in a hostile world, marked by sackcloth as a picture of mourning, repentance, and the humble, costly nature of the church’s testimony. The world silences them and celebrates their deaths, but God raises them, turning apparent defeat into vindication. Their story reminds us that the church is called to bear witness to Jesus Christ in word and deed, expecting opposition without despairing when faithfulness becomes costly. We are God’s people, temples of the living God, commissioned to remain faithful until the day when Christ turns our apparent defeat into final victory.
